miércoles- Comic strip practice in groups.  Begin comic strip assignment alone. TAREA: don't forget to bring in your Spanish print media for tomorrow!

jueves- Spanish print media due. Review for test(useful phrases section will be matching). Work on comic strip & finish.  TAREA: Finish comic strip if not done, but should have finished in class. Study for test on Unit 1: introduction

jueves- Why Spanish? Which countries speak Spanish? Pre-test(based on cumulative project). TAREA: find a printed material to bring in that is in Spanish for next Thursday (could be instructions, leaflet, newspaper, menu, etc. etc.).

viernes- Social contract. Start etapa preliminar.

grado 7: presentaciones

Check out the Prezi and Glogster websites to see sample presentations from others under the 7th grade "recursos" tab to the right, or click on the links below.  I have Glogster accounts created for any students that choose Glogster; so, see me before starting.  If you choose Prezi, you will want to create your own free account.  PowerPoint is also an option, although I would encourage you to try something new!

You will sign up for presentations on either Tuesday, 11/27, or Wednesday, 11/28.  We will be in the computer lab, working on these on 11/15, 11/16, 11/19, 11/20, and will tentatively schedule some time on 11/26 if really needed by those who do NOT have internet/computer access at home.

If you choose a Prezi or Glogster, don't forget to e mail me a link to your presentation by 5pm on 11/26 to jessica.harris@staff.spartaschools.org

This will allow me to put all of the links into a doc that we can smoothly access for presentations in class.

martes- Computer lab to make PowerPoints to go along with presentations.  Sign up for a presentation day(either 11/26 or 11/27) Parent-teacher conferences from 4-6:30.

viernes- Computer lab.  Goal is to be finished with PowerPoint and to be practicing your presentation to others.  Make sure to time yourself!

martes- Sub (Sra. Harris at PD). Correct CMP p. 21/22 if not done already.  Write paragraphs about photos given.  Check with two friends & make any corrections needed.  Study clothing vocab.

miércoles- Review.  Saying what someone is wearing. Describe what classmates are wearing.  Correct photo descriptions.

jueves- Review. TAREA: study clothing vocab. Student-led conferences from 4-6:30

viernes-  QUIZ on clothing vocab. Review.

español I: country projects

We will be in the computer lab through the end of this week and next week; use your time wisely.  I have created a Google Doc, that anyone can edit, so you can collaborate with your classmates while you're researching.  This way, if you find a website that you find really useful and authentic, you can share it with your classmates.  I will pay you 100 pesos if you post an original link!  I have still left some of the posts from last year, in the hopes that some of them might be useful to you.  You can use the link to the Google Doc below, or the link under the español I tab to the right.  Happy researching!

jueves- Partner map. Draw comic strip using basic conversations & vocab from p. 21. TAREA: Finish comic strip & study for vocab quiz tomorrow on greetings, introducing yourself, & saying where you ar from (p. 21)

viernes- Vocab quiz. Spanish alphabet. Vowels. Spelling your name & asking for another's. Continue to look at/study vocab over the weekend.

Welcome to the 2012 Hispanic Festival! September 7th and 8th

HISPANIC FESTIVAL MISSION STATEMENT
To promote an understanding of diversity and to increase awareness of the rich and diverse cultures within the Hispanic community while raising funds to enhance the programs and services provided by the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan.
HISPANIC FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
In 2009, the Hispanic Festival hosted approximately 100,000 visitors who celebrated the cultural heritage of the Hispanic community through entertainment, food, art and products from Latin, Central and South America.
As the Hispanic population of Western Michigan grows, it is vital that the larger community enjoy fellowship together in a time of cultural enrichment and awareness in order to bridge the gap between segments of the population. The Festival is popular because it affords sponsors and business leaders the opportunity to reach a growing Hispanic market with direct contact to consumers, while at the same time providing a context for the broader community to experience Hispanic culture at its best.
The Festival attracts attendees from across the state, local Hispanic business owners, as well as artists and performers from 20 different Latin American countries. The Festival also appeals to the larger community by displaying the many positive contributions the Hispanic population makes to benefit Western Michigan.
Please Consider These Facts:
• The purchasing power of Hispanics is currently at $700 billion, making that market a critical area for businesses and corporations to expand services and marketing.
• Immigrants add approximately $10 billion each year to the U.S. economy.
• In Michigan, Hispanics own over 1 million businesses, mostly owned by Latinas or female Hispanics and employ over 1.4 million people.
• Agricultural businesses have the highest Latino representation, followed by construction, manufacturing and technology.
• The Hispanic community fosters the growth and prosperity of the city of Grand Rapids by purchasing and owning homes, revitalizing neighborhoods and investing in local businesses.
As these facts demonstrate, the growing Hispanic community is one that is in need of services and goods from local businesses. Also, the Hispanic population enhances the broader community through the goods and services it supplies.
The Hispanic Festival is the primary annual fundraiser for the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan and the largest Hispanic Festival in the state. We hope you will join us this year as a Sponsor and participant on September 7th & 8th at the Calder Plaza in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
